Summary: As part of our efforts to assist people to upgrade their php websites from older versions of php we’ve now added a hardened, patched version of php 8.3 (specifically 8.3.35-6)
What does this mean for clients? Simple, if you have a wordpress site on our old shared hosting and its core, themes and plugins are all up to date you can now switch to a modern supported version of PHP.
What Should I do? Check that your website will work first, change php version, test all aspects of your site. Not just the main page, any backend logins, tools like cron jobs etc to make sure they work.
If you have cronjobs make sure to update the path there to be “/opt/alt/php83/usr/bin/php”
How do I change? Easy, look for the ‘Legacy Shared Hosting’ section on this helpdesk article and follow the steps. https://help.blacknight.com/hc/en-us/articles/212520709-Changing-PHP-version
You can easily chose any version, the change takes less than 60 seconds typically.
