At approximately 15:20 BST we observed disruption on our network to routes in the UK / Europe. One of our backhaul providers was undergoing emergency maintenance at the time, however this should not have been service affecting as it was a backup circuit.
As the maintenance began, we noticed errors on the backup link with a sudden surge in traffic. Our engineers responded rapidly and adjusted the traffic to stabilise the network.
We are currently investigating this with our carrier. However we have not identified the root cause as yet.
Services affected : Customers may have noticed a short period of time where traffic to/from Europe may have had increased latency or intermittent connectivity.
