Summary: Wednesday 16/11 @ 10:00am we’ll be migrating the database backend for our broadband control systems to new infrastructure.
What: We’re running a GaleraDB cluster on MariaDB 10.1 and we want to migrate this MariaDB 10.6. Rather than doing this in-situ and having no roll back plan we made new VMs and a new GaleraDB cluster to move to. We’ll shut down access first. Dump the database, copy it over and restore it. Then using salt we’ll push a config change on our systems to point to the new cluster.
A follow up maintenance window may occur where we upgrade the Django framework on our Broadband portal, the impact of this will be decided upon later.
1) Helpdesk and sales teams in our resellers access to https://bbportal.blacknight.com will be limited during this 30 minute maintenance window. We aim to keep the disruption to a couple of minutes but it may take a little longer.
2) broadband authentication for new customers or customers who reboot their CPE – for 10-15 minutes any broadband sessions that drop during this maintenance window will not be able re-connect until this work is completed.
3) Customers with broadband on WHMCS (https://cp.blacknighthosting.com) will not be able to access their Service details during this window.
